Hello, we are Wellington and Gemma Driedger
We are a married couple committed to providing holistic, person-centred counselling for mental health and relationships. We offer a warm, confidential space to explore life challenges, relationship difficulties, emotional struggles, and unhelpful patterns
Wellington Driedger

I have a Master of Counselling through the Australian College of Divinity, and I am a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association.
My own journey through family hardship, faith communities, and anxiety has been painful, complex, and yet deeply formative. These experiences have significantly shaped how I understand counselling, suffering, and healing.
As a professional counsellor, I will never take you anywhere you do not choose to go. I hold a deep conviction that healing, support, and growth take place in a safe and empathic environment where you are listened to. People often need another set of eyes to gain a little clearer perspective on patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that are hindering them.
Your journey through anxiety, grief, relational struggle, addiction, trauma, or loss can become a place of healing, growth, and new beginnings

I have a Master of Counselling through the Australian College of Divinity, and I am a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association….
I entered counselling because I deeply believe humans are formed to heal in relationships. I’m honoured to provide a safe therapeutic space that allows the opening and holding of questions, fears, coping mechanisms and behaviours, depression, and bone-deep insecurities and longings.
As I have embarked on my own healing journey over the past decade, honestly bringing deep fears and insecurities to safe places, I’ve found a richer life through deepening authenticity and connection with others.
Pain, anxiety and emotion are not merely problems to be fixed but a gift that, through compassionate curiosity, can provide surprisingly clear insight into areas in our life and development that need attention and healing.

Our mission at Emmaus Road Counselling is to support clients towards greater insight, healing, and connection.
Rather than avoiding our pain or carrying it alone we believe healing begins by approaching our whole story and person with compassionate attention—not to stay stuck, but to move toward wholeness.
Our Counselling Approach
Here are modern counselling and psychological frameworks we draw from and employ.

Attachment Theory
Attachment theory focuses on how our formative relationships establish our relational and emotional patterns and the way we see ourselves, others, and even God.

Story Engagement
Your past, especially your relational experiences, has shaped how you think, feel, and relate today. No present problem is random; in fact, it may be the most honest part of your life, inviting you to pay attention to your story

Emotion-Focused Therapy
Your emotions are communicating to you valuable information. We draw from EFT to help you recognize the messages your emotions are telling you and help you uncover key wounds needing attention and healing.

Trauma-Informed
We recognise the way the trauma impacts your body, nervous system, and brain. We will not come at you with a “fix-it” mentality. Rather, we create a compassionate, safe, and dignifying environment where we ask, “What harm has occurred to you?”

Person-Centred
You are not a problem to be fixed but a human to be treated with respect. We take your dignity, voice, opinion, and experience seriously as we work together with you to highlight key goals and an overall plan for counselling that you feel confident and comfortable with.
